About Us

We are Diana and Endy, a husband and wife team living in Florida with our two boys. We started traveling to Haiti regularly over a decade ago and The Real Haiti blog was born. We were selected as winners of the former Minister of Tourism's rebranding contest with the slogan, "Experience It" or "Se La Pou'w La!" We also got to meet former President Michel Martelly, a career highlight!

The Real Haiti blog has expanded to offer teaching resources on Haiti and the Haitian culture. Being a non-native Creole speaker, Diana searched for tools to use to teach their boys, but sadly didn't find much. The little she found was outdated, expensive or about an orphan. So, we created our own learning resources. Along with verbal practice, our boys are using Creole words, and most importantly, they are growing up with a proud and positive image of their Haitian culture!

It is our life passion to be a resource for fun, unique, modern and factual information about Haiti, the Haitian culture and Haitian Creole!
Familiarize children with Haiti and the Haitian culture in a positive light. They will be prepared to encourage others to learn about the other side of Haiti. The catalogued worksheets, cultural activities and stories are typically passed down orally, but now students have a collection for themselves, their family, school or organization.

“My students in the classroom from Haiti are so excited that we have lessons about their homeland. They really appreciate the variety of information, and so do I!” - Jillian, ESOL Teacher
