I was invited as an honoree to attend the 2nd Annual Women International Month awards ceremony honoring women in the media for a "Beacon of Hope and Achievement Award," March 27, 2014.
Me? No way. I could not believe I was asked to be among TV station owners, journalists, well-known radio and TV personalities and more. Here's a list of the amazing women who were honored: Lucie Tondreau (North Miami Office of the Mayor and Council) Tamara Philippeaux (Island TV) Elizabeth Guerin (Imaginart Media Productions) Rollie B. Coradin Lemoine Rose Marie Monique B Souvenir (Fanny) Marie Flore LLindor-Latortue Carline Paul Farah Larrieux Guylene Berry (Koze Fanm) Mia Lopez (sakapfet.com) Mirto Alexis (Sister Bijoux) Carla St. Louis (Miami Times) Valentine Cesar
The event was a beautiful way to honor us women. I still can't believe I was among them, but I appreciate every single one of you that read my blog. It's all about the education and I've been blessed with a talent that I can not silence because the world deserves to know about The Real Haiti!
Thank you so much Gerry Brierre Photography (group photo below) via The Consulat General d'Haiti a Miami for this photograph!
Thank you to Miami Times for covering this event and to Guy Michel for sending me a pic of this article!
And last but certainly not least, thank you to my husband Endy for all of his encouragement, knowledge and support. The Real Haiti would not/does not exist without him!
Not only am I passionate about Haiti, I am passionate about women's rights. I was an ultra feminist in college and even got a degree in women's studies. Since then though, my passion for it kind of faded. This month, I became re-energized thanks to March being Women's History Month!
On March 13, I went down to Miami for a celebration by the City of North Miami, honoring so many amazing women including Yvanka Jolicoeur Brutus (Mayor of Petionville). She is the reason why I went! This woman truly inspires me because of her hard work and dedication to Haiti. She is the busiest person I know and she still makes time for her family and friends. Yvanka, I hope to be as awesome as you one day! Thank you for inspiring me and so many others!!!
