MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER

Readers,
Tourist attractions in the country are too tangible to remain much longer in the shadows. CNN Travel has placed Abaka Bay (a beach on the island to cow south of Haiti) in 57thposition on a list of 100 most beautiful beaches in the world.

Apart from the beauty of our sites, we also like the quality of services provided by tourist establishments. In this regard, we commend the managers Cormier Plage for this honor from Trip Advisor.
In the drive to promote this new destination in the Caribbean, according to the Canadian public, we have now launched with Transat Holidays USA, two packages from several U.S. cities.

Meanwhile, we begin a promotional campaign with clips made on Haitian tourism product. Already on our agenda, we have big events that await us as dinner in white or our unique Carnival of Flowers is happening next month. This will be one of the most important holidays in the Caribbean during this period and it will be in Port-au-Prince on 28, 29 and 30 July.

Infrastructure side, we are currently setting up childcare could make attractive trips to heritage sites, natural and cultural. Thus, we process on June 6, at the inauguration of Home kiosks Milot (Choiseul). Now, visitors to the Citadel will have a safe space for them to park their vehicles, a reception desk, nursing, craft booths and a snack bar, etc..

The administration of President Martelly is involved in a race to the repositioning of Haiti on the tourism map of the region. Continue to work together to find the hidden gem: Haiti.

Happy reading ...

Cap Lamandou hotel - review

6/7/2013

Aesthetically, this hotel is beautiful. There is authentic Haitian furniture, art and staircases all over. The views are spectacular. There are turquoise water ocean views, garden views within the hotel, and it’s a quiet place to relax at.

The rooms are up to date with the basics in them, and one of the nicer private hotels I’ve stayed in. There’s a basic tv, bed(s) and furniture. The bathrooms are definitely newer and nicer than some hotels we’ve stayed in, but certainly not first class. The service is just ok and breakfast is included in the price (around $150/night).

The food at the hotel is bad. We did not have one good meal (even the ones we paid for). A lobster dinner was about $35 US, where I got the same meal at a local beach for $7 US and it was better. The hamburger and lambi was awful and very over priced.

Best part: The view from the rooms and the pool, as well as the access to a small local beach. Our room looked over the pool and ocean.

Tips: The walk down to the beach is steep and with lots of steps. This will not be accessible to someone with health issues. It’s a hike and it’s a long way down (and worse back up). However, it is worth it because at the bottom there’s a local beach with fishermen and amazing views!
Some of the pictures on their website are NOT from there. It doesn't look anything like some of those pictures. View my slideshow below for current pics.

"I started writing just for fun one after another, but never realized that it would develop in me to be rather part of me." ~Jhonny Pierre, author

During Palm Beach County's Haitian Heritage Month Celebration kick-off event, I had the pleasure of meeting Jhonny Pierre. He told me a story of his aspirations and dreams of re-entering medical school to become a doctor. Check out his bio and his book. He deserves the support!_

LINK TO PURCHASE BOOK

My name is Jhonny B. Pierre, a Haitian-American citizen living in south Florida.  I was born in Haiti and moved to the US in 1994.  I am a reserved, a respectful, a funny young man, and sometimes a comedian.  I love to help others; I love life, my Creator, family values, and love to write especially poetry.  I finished high school, attended Palm Beach States College, Florida Atlantic University, then Windsor University School of Medicine.  I completed my first two years there, and recently I had to let go because of financial difficulties.  As I already completed the hardest part of my medical studies, I refuse to give up and I am trying whatever it takes to find my way back to complete what I had started.

I decided to convert my words or my vision of the world to poetry, and published them hoping that I will gain support to continue pursuing my dream.  The book is called “Love and/in Poetry” which is based on love of relationship, family values, and love in general.

Please support my work which will also mean supporting my dream as the main goal to finish my education.  I am absolutely confident that you will love the book as it can be used for many situations and occasions.  Thank you in advance for your support and may the Lord blesses you.
